For Madelange Laroche, fashion has always been personal. Born and raised in Haiti as the youngest of fourteen children, her love of design began at an early age. She collected pieces of fabric and transformed them into clothing for her dolls, discovering a creativity that would eventually become her life’s work.
Her mother, a skilled seamstress, gave Madelange her first lessons in sewing and needlework. By the age of sixteen, she had already developed strong technical skills and a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship behind a beautifully made garment.
Madelange later pursued formal training at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, where she continued developing her creative and technical abilities. After graduating, she further refined her skills through an apprenticeship with designer Frank Agostino before establishing her label.
Today, Madelange brings together the influences of her Haitian upbringing, the skills passed down by her mother, and years of professional training and design experience. Her work is known for its attention to detail, beautiful fabrics, intricate embellishments, and an approach to design that balances timeless elegance with individuality.
Throughout her career, Madelange has received recognition for her work in fashion and design. She was a recipient of the Savannah De Vore ’98 Critic Award for her men’s and women’s wear collections and has presented her work at Atlantic City Fashion Week. Her designs and story have also received media attention from publications and outlets throughout her career.
At the heart of Madelange’s work is a simple belief: a beautifully made garment should not only look exceptional—it should feel personal to the person wearing it.
